Anton Stach Set to Join Leeds United in Landmark €20m Transfer
Leeds United will sign German midfielder Anton Stach from Hoffenheim, with a fee of €20 million agreed for his transfer. The 26-year-old will agree to a four-year contract with the newly-promoted club, who continue to invest significantly in their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. Stach will leave the Bundesliga after two years with Hoffenheim.
WHAT HAPPENED
Leeds have secured the signature of the 26-year-old, who has spent the last two years with Hoffenheim and become a mainstay in their midfield. Stach has been included in many Germany squads during his time with Hoffenheim, but Hoffenheim avoided relegation from the Bundesliga with a poor campaign and the midfielder is now set for a fresh challenge in the Premier League. He joins for a fee exceeding €20m, fulfilling Daniel Farke’s wish for another midfielder. Leeds United are also close to signing Sean Longstaff, further enhancing their midfield options.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Stach becomes the latest Bundesliga player to join Leeds United this summer, after players like Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw. Following a year back in the Championship, where they secured promotion by winning the league, Leeds are making significant outlays in the transfer market to ensure they can remain in the top level. The club is rebuilding for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign under coach Daniel Farke.
WHAT NEXT FOR LEEDS?
Leeds United were held to a 0-0 draw by rivals Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Sweden on Friday. They host Everton in their opening Premier League fixture, following three more games before the start of the campaign. Stach will hope to compete for a starting berth alongside Ethan Ampadu and Sean Longstaff in midfield.
