Inter Milan Say Marcus Thuram Will Not Be Sold This Summer

Inter Milan say Marcus Thuram will not leave this summer. Sporting director Piero Ausilio says there’s “absolutely no chance” the forward will be sold in this window.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Inter have reiterated their stance following an increase in speculation and interest from several top European clubs. According to reports, Thuram has an €85 million release clause in his contract, but there is no desire from the player or the club for him to leave. Earlier in the window, it was rumoured he would move on, but Inter have now shut down all suggestions. Thuram has never showed desire to leave the Nerazzurri, and the club claim he is a crucial part of their plans going into the new season.

INTER AND THURAM’S IMPACT THIS SEASON

Thuram enjoyed another outstanding season, scoring 11 league goals and providing six assists in 32 games last season. He was vital as Inter finished second in Serie A, just behind Napoli, and reached the final of the Champions League. Thuram’s combination with Lautaro Martinez is one of the deadliest in Italy and the Frenchman is key to the team thanks to his physicality, speed, and flexibility.

WHAT NEXT FOR INTER?

Preseason is coming up soon as Inter get back to work ahead of the new Serie A season. The schedule will be announced in the coming weeks and Inter will be out to reclaim their title after finishing just two points behind Napoli last term. Their first big game of the new campaign will be against Torino for the league opener as they aim to start with the right food. Keeping Thuram is a big boost and sends a clear message that they intend to be right up there at the top again, resisting interest from rivals for their key players.
