Bryan Mbeumo Completes Manchester United Medical Ahead Of £71m Move

Bryan Mbeumo has finished his medical at Manchester United. He is ready to sign a long-term contract until June 2030, with an option for an extra year, as confirmed by a recent report about his transfer. The forward is set to be United’s newest signing in a deal worth up to £71 million.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Manchester United and Brentford have agreed on Bryan Mbeumo‘s transfer after weeks of talks. Mbeumo completed his medical over the weekend. He will now go to Carrington for official photos and to sign his contract. The deal includes an initial £65 million payment to Brentford, with another £6 million in add-ons for appearances and goals, as outlined in the deal confirmed recently. Mbeumo wanted to join United, even rejecting interest from Tottenham. He is expected to join United’s squad for their pre-season tour in the United States, starting with a game against West Ham on July 27.

IMPACT ON UNITED AND BRENTFORD

This transfer is United’s fourth signing this summer. The squad is excited about Mbeumo, thanks to encouragement from teammate André Onana. Mbeumo was important for Brentford last season, contributing 10 goals and 6 assists in 29 league appearances, according to recent statistics. United struggled in attack last season, finishing 15th in the Premier League. They also lost in the Europa League final, and as such failed to qualify for European Competitions this season. Brentford finished 13th in the Premier League last season and now must replace one of their best players.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Mbeumo will officially sign his contract soon and join United’s pre-season. He may debut on July 27 against West Ham in the United States. United want to improve on last season’s 15th-place finish and aim for Champions League qualification. Brentford must plan for life without their star forward and try for a better position in the Premier League for the upcoming season, potentially eyeing reinforcements with the transfer fee to replace Mbeumo.
