Bayern Munich Make Luis Diaz Top Priority as Liverpool Ready for Improved Offer

Bayern Munich are set to increase their efforts to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, preparing a new bid after an initial offer was rejected. The Colombian remains Bayern’s prime transfer target, though Lyon’s Malick Fofana is being considered as an alternative if Liverpool refuse to sell.

BAYERN STEP UP DIAZ PURSUIT

Bayern Munich’s new manager Vincent Kompany has made Luis Diaz his first-choice signing for the summer. Liverpool recently turned down a bid worth around €67 million for the 28-year-old, who scored 13 goals and provided 5 assists in 36 Premier League matches last season. Despite Liverpool’s firm stance that Diaz is not for sale, the winger is reportedly open to joining Bayern and has verbally agreed to a lucrative contract until 2029, with wages of €14 million per year. Bayern will soon return with an improved offer to try and convince Liverpool to let their star attacker go according to recent reports.

LIVERPOOL’S PLAN AND COMPLICATIONS

Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, are determined to keep Diaz as they defend their title. The club views him as crucial to their squad after playing a key role in last season’s triumph. However, Diaz has two years left on his contract, and if Liverpool do not extend his deal, they risk losing him for less money next summer. While Liverpool are close to signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for €90 million as per reports, they insist that Diaz is not for sale this window. Bayern, meanwhile, have already contacted Lyon about Malick Fofana as a backup target.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Liverpool will begin their Premier League season against Bournemouth, the team where their new left-back, Milos Kerkez, played for last season. Bayern are preparing for the Bundesliga opener against RB Leipzig, who ended up outside of European spots last season. As both clubs prepare for key fixtures, transfer talks are likely to accelerate. Liverpool currently sit on top with the ambition to defend their title, while Bayern seek reinforcements to challenge for domestic and European honors. The outcome of these negotiations could impact both teams’ squads before the transfer window closes.
