Wolves Move Quickly to Secure Marc Pubill from Almeria
Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer of €15 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause for Almeria right-back Marc Pubill to beat rival clubs to his signature.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Wolves are in advanced talks to bring Marc Pubill to the Premier League. The club submitted a bid worth €15 million, including further bonuses and a sell-on clause, and are hoping to finalise the deal within hours. The urgency comes as other teams, including European sides, showed an interest in the 22-year-old after his impressive performances for Almeria last season, where he made 36 appearances, scored once, and provided four assists according to reports.
Pubill was initially not expected to receive serious offers, but Wolves have now moved with intent to close a deal.
WHY WOLVES WANT PUBILL
Marc Pubill has earned a reputation as a strong, hard-working, versatile right-back, a former winger who is capable of contributing to both offensive and defensive outcomes. His consistency last season for Almeria in the second tier of Spanish football, and his recent role for Spain’s under-21 team, have made him a standout target. Wolves see him as an ideal fit for their system and a potential upgrade as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaigns.
Last season, Wolves finished in mid-table in the top-flight, ending 16th as their results indicate, and are looking to strengthen their defence to push on and improve that finish in the next campaign.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Both clubs are expected to reach an agreement for Pubill soon, with Wolves hoping to conclude the transfer before the weekend. Pubill would join up with Wolves ahead of their 2025/26 Premier League opener against title contender Manchester City, who finished in 3rd place last season. In contrast, Almeria are preparing for another season in the Spanish second tier after narrowly missing promotion.
The two clubs could be set for more negotiations if Wolves are interested in strengthening their forward line again, with Joao Maria and Mamadou Sylla potential targets. For now, though, the focus is on Pubill.
