Newcastle Prepare Bid for Benjamin Šeško as Isak’s Future Remains Uncertain

Newcastle United are planning a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško. He is their main target if Alexander Isak leaves the club this summer, with reports indicating that Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Šeško.

NEWCASTLE SET TO APPROACH BENJAMIN ŠEŠKO

Newcastle are ready to make an offer to Benjamin Šeško. The 22-year-old striker is seen as the perfect replacement for Alexander Isak, who has reported desires for a new challenge. Isak has three years left on his contract, and Newcastle value him at around £150 million, which is in line with their reluctance to sell him unless an offer near £150 million is made. Teams like Liverpool are very interested.

Šeško has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Leipzig, which allows him to leave for the right opportunity; this has also been reported in relation to his potential summer move under a special agreement for a lower price, as highlighted in various updates on the player’s situation this summer.

ŠEŠKO’S FORM AND LEIPZIG’S 2024/25 SEASON

Šeško had a diverse season with RB Leipzig, where he scored 21 goals and provided six assists overall, including four in the UEFA Champions League. Leipzig finished seventh last season and missed out on European football. As such, players like Sesko and Xavi Simons may leave the team this summer in search for better opportunities elsewhere

Leipzig’s performance means they will not let Šeško go easily, as his contract runs until 2029, but the striker’s agreement could aid Newcastle in their negotiations. Other big Premier League clubs are also monitoring his situation.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NEWCASTLE AND ISAK?

Newcastle’s pre-season preparations have been complicated due to Isak’s uncertainty, as he did not travel with the team for their pre-season tour amid transfer speculation. Newcastle finished fifth in the Premier League last season, securing their return to European football, and are determined to strengthen their squad further.

They will open their 2025/26 campaign at home against Aston Villa, who finished sixth. Finding a striker is a priority, especially if Isak leaves. Newcastle want to return to the top echelons of English football; if Šeško joins, he will be integrating into a setup keen on challenging for a top-six finish.
