Ruben Kluivert Signs With Olympique Lyon Through 2030

Ruben Kluivert is joining Olympique Lyon. He signed a deal until June 2030.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The defender moved from Casa Pia to Lyon. His transfer cost €4 million. The 24-year-old is a son of Patrick Kluivert. He notched over 30 appearances in Portugal’s Primeira Liga last season.

WHY THIS DEAL MATTERS FOR LYON

Kluivert is coming in as Lyon aim to improve their defense. They allowed 46 goals last season, which was the second worst of anyone in the top 8. Despite facing relegation to Ligue 2 due to financial issues, Lyon will play in the Europa League next season and will also stay in the Ligue 1.
