Wolves Sign David Møller Wolfe as Ait-Nouri’s Replacement

Wolves have agreed to sign David Møller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar. The Norwegian left-back will travel to have a medical. He will join the Premier League club as a direct replacement for Rayan Ait-Nouri.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Wolves have reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar for David Møller Wolfe and his agent, slating a medical in the next 24 hours. The 24-year-old could therefore join in time to play against Southampton on Sunday. Wolves have accelerated their pursuit of left-backs after Ait-Nouri decided to leave. They have beaten Lille in the race for Wolfe’s signature.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR WOLVES

Wolves will give Wolfe a chance to fight for the starting left-back position after Ait-Nouri’s exit. They will consider bringing in another option in the transfer market if they do not feel confident in his ability to take over. Wolfe joined AZ from Norwegian club Brann a year ago, signing a contract until July 2028. The left-back made 49 appearances in all competitions during his time at the club. He started 33 matches during the 2024/25 campaign, covering the Eredivisie, Europa League and KNVB Cup. This move comes as Wolves are actively looking for a replacement for Nelson Semedo, whose contract with the club recently ended, closing his five-year stint there as per reports.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR WOLVES AND WOLFE

Wolfe was irregular with his return last season, contributing a goal and four assists across all competitions. However, he has posted strong numbers in key defensive and passing metrics. The 23-year-old has been capped by Norway at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels. He could now be set to complete a move to the Premier League.
