Alejandro Garnacho Eager for Chelsea Move as Blues Prepare Summer Bid

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho wants to join Chelsea. He prioritizes moving to London for the summer transfer window despite interest elsewhere in Europe. Chelsea are preparing a formal approach as talks advance on a deal with the Red Devils for Garnacho. As per a recent report, Garnacho might move within the Premier League this summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Garnacho, 21, has made it clear for months that he wants to remain in the Premier League and make the move to Chelsea. Despite other forwards targeted by Chelsea earlier this summer, such as Xavi Simons and a number of young talents, the Blues have retained their interest in Garnacho. They recently performed background checks on the Argentine winger and are satisfied that his character can fit well within Enzo Maresca’s team, with no concern about his off-field behavior. Chelsea are now ready to make a formal approach to Manchester United, who are open to selling Garnacho this summer after placing him on their transfer list earlier in the window.

SITUATION AT BOTH CLUBS

Chelsea finished 4th in the Premier League last season, earning a Champions League spot. The Blues hope to rebuild under Maresca, beginning their transition to a younger squad. They have already strengthened their attack with summer arrivals including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, while talks for RB Leipzig’s winger Xavi Simons continue.

Meanwhile, Garnacho fell out of favor at Manchester United under new head coach Ruben Amorim, and was placed on the transfer list alongside other high-profile names. The 21-year-old played 58 games last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting 10, but struggled with inconsistent game time in the latter half of the campaign as he is now set to leave Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League last season, missing out on Champions League qualification. The club is looking to reshape their attack and remains in pursuit of a new striker.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Chelsea are expected to finalize departures for Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja, while Marc Guiu and Tyriere George are heading out on loan. The moves will free up squad space as well as help the Blues balance the books for further incoming transfers. Their next fixture is a Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on August 17, where they aim to close the gap to the top four this season as Maresca’s men seek a better finish in the league. Meanwhile, Manchester United will start their campaign against Arsenal, who finished 2nd place them last year. If Chelsea move quickly for Garnacho, he could face Arsenal as their new signing while the Blues attempt to transform their attack for the new season.
