Wilfred Ndidi Set for Besiktas Move After Leicester Agreement

Wilfred Ndidi is about to join Besiktas. Leicester City have accepted a bid from the Turkish club for €9.5 million transfer according to reports. The Nigerian midfielder is now expected to agree to personal terms and travel to Istanbul for his medical.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Besiktas have signed their top target after a long pursuit. They matched Leicester’s price after failed bids and got the 27-year-old Nigerian international. Ndidi joined Leicester in 2017 and played over 300 matches. He is set to sign a three-year contract with a fourth-year option. Besiktas want to strengthen under new coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after an early Europa League exit. Ndidi will arrive in Turkey for his medical soon. Only minor details are left to complete the deal.

NDIDI’S IMPACT AND LEICESTER’S SEASON

Ndidi was key to Leicester’s midfield, but the club’s relegation put his future in doubt. Leicester finished last season with just 25 points, leading to their drop from the Premier League. Ndidi was consistent, making 28 appearances and providing five assists during his final season as reported. His exit ends a seven-year spell with the club. Besiktas are reshaping after missing out in the Europa League after being knocked out of the qualifying race by Shakhtar Donetsk, having finished just outside the top three in the Turkish Super Lig and wanting to catch up with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

WHAT NEXT FOR NDIDI AND BESIKTAS?

Ndidi will soon travel to Istanbul to complete his move if the final details are resolved quickly. Besiktas hope his arrival will help them challenge for the Super Lig title in 2025/26. Their first match is next week against Kayserispor, who finished mid-table last season. Besiktas ended the 2024/25 Süper Lig season in fourth place and want to improve. They also aim to do better in Europe after recent disappointment. Ndidi may play in their opening match if the transfer is completed in time.
