FC Basel Push for Loan Deal for Inter’s Tomas Palacios

FC Basel want to sign Inter Milan defender Tomas Palacios on loan until June 2026. They have officially contacted Inter to ask about his availability, and discussions are still ongoing.

Basel Turn Their Attention to Palacios

Basel are targeting Inter Milan‘s Tomas Palacios as they look to bolster their defense for the coming years. Basel want to take the defender on loan until the end of the 2025-26 season. Discussions are ongoing, and Palacios has interest from other clubs, but Basel are working hard to ensure they sign him.

Palacios Wants Out After Mixed Campaign

Palacios, 22, signed for Inter last summer from Independiente Rivadavia but struggled for game time in Milan. He went out on loan to Monza in January, where he did see more action but could not stop the team from being relegated from Serie A. Inter Milan ended the last Serie A season as runner-ups, finishing just behind Napoli, but are still planning to offload Palacios on loan or permanently, as they look to trim the squad. The Argentine defender is currently weighing up his options and considering Basel’s proposal.

What Next For Basel and Palacios?

Basel are eager to wrap up a deal so they can focus on the new season. The Swiss Super League club finished as winners last season, well ahead of the competition, and will want to maintain the gap at the top. The new season gets underway this weekend, with Basel taking on last season’s third-placed Young Boys, as European qualification remains the target once again. A move for Palacios could certainly help Basel’s plans and see them return to the top of the Swiss pile. However, interest continues in the defender from elsewhere which suggests a deal is far from done.
