Tim Weah Arrives in Marseille as Transfer from Juventus Nears Completion

Timothy Weah is in Marseille to finish his transfer from Juventus. His father, George Weah, is with him. The American winger will join Olympique Marseille after the two clubs made an agreement.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Weah left Juventus to move to France and join Marseille. This ends a long transfer story. Weah wanted to join OM, even though other clubs showed interest at first. The deal starts as a loan for €1 million, but Marseille will buy him for between €12 million and €15 million next summer, as confirmed by recent reports. There are add-ons of €3 million and a sell-on clause, which Juventus will benefit from in the future. Weah agreed to Marseille’s terms. He just needs to pass a medical and sign the contract.

JUVENTUS AND MARSEILLE: SEASON SO FAR

Last season, Juventus finished fourth in Serie A, securing Champions League football, and did not win the league, leaving the Coppa Italia in the semi-finals. Weah joined in 2023 and made 43 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists, as noted in previous figures. He struggled for steady play time. Marseille came second in Ligue 1 and will play in European competition again. They want to strengthen the team and believe Weah is important for this season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR WEAH AND OM?

Weah will have a medical check-up and then sign with Marseille. Their Ligue 1 season starts in a few days, and Marseille will play against Rennes in their first match, as reported earlier. Marseille wants to be among the top three teams. Last season, they were four points behind third-placed AS Monaco. New coach Roberto De Zerbi will likely have Weah ready to play soon. OM aims for a strong league start and successful campaigns in Europe, showcasing their commitment to rebuilding under De Zerbi after finishing second in Ligue 1.
