Chelsea Secure £45m From Broja and Ugochukwu Sales to Burnley

Chelsea have agreed to sell Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu to Burnley. They will get about £45 million for both players. Broja and Ugochukwu will leave Stamford Bridge before the new Premier League season starts. Burnley have officially agreed transfers for both players.

CHELSEA FINALISE DOUBLE DEAL WITH BURNLEY

Broja‘s move to Burnley is worth £20 million, while Ugochukwu‘s transfer costs about £25 million. Both struggled to become regulars in Chelsea’s first team last season. Broja was hurt for most of the season and played only a few games, notably not scoring in the Premier League. Ugochukwu, who was signed from Rennes for just over £23 million, started only six league matches. Ugochukwu will join Burnley on a four-year contract once he completes his medical test.

Burnley have now spent a significant amount to get the young striker and midfielder to Turf Moor.

IMPACT ON CHELSEA AND BURNLEY

Chelsea are changing their squad after a mixed 2024/25 season, which saw them qualify in 4th for the Champions League. They have sold more than four players this summer, collecting over £100 million in transfer fees. These deals provide money for them to chase new signings, including a striker, a centre-back, and a goalkeeper, as their new head coach tries to make them stronger. Chelsea are offloading several players to comply with financial fair play rules.

For Burnley, the signings are important as they gear up for another season in the Premier League. They were promoted last season from the Championship with the best defense, but their starting goalkeeper, Trafford, has since moved back to his former club Manchester City, and the team’s ultimate goal will be to secure a stay in the Premier League.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH TEAMS?

Chelsea will try to use the money from these sales to fix their weaker areas before the transfer window shuts. They especially need a new striker because of their struggles in attack last season. Burnley, strengthened by their new players, will start their Premier League campaign away at Tottenham, who just had their captain Son leave to the MLS. Chelsea will face Crystal Palace in their first match, a team that won the FA Cup last season. It’s an early test for Chelsea as they strive to close the gap and fight for a return to the Champions League. Broja and Ugochukwu will be keen to leave a mark with their new club. Armando Broja is expected to be available for Burnley’s Premier League opener.
