Mads Hermansen Set for West Ham Move After Deal Agreed With Leicester City

West Ham United will sign goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Leicester City. The transfer costs €19 million, and the club made this choice after changing their plan.

WHAT HAPPENED?

West Ham made a deal with Leicester City to sign Mads Hermansen, a Danish goalkeeper. The deal is worth about £19 million. Hermansen has also agreed to join the club. He will have a medical check in London soon.

West Ham was going to sign John Victor from Botafogo, but they changed their minds and focused on Hermansen. Manager Graham Potter wanted to improve the team’s goalkeeping, as it was a problem last season. As per a recent report, West Ham United are making progress in signing Botafogo’s goalkeeper John Victor.

WHY HERMANSEN?

Hermansen, 25, did well for Leicester in the Premier League last season. Even though Leicester was relegated, he played well and received praise for his commanding presence and shot-stopping skills. He often kept his team in the game. Notably, Leicester City finished 18th and were relegated from the Premier League last season.

West Ham struggled with goalkeeping too. Alphonse Areola faced criticism for poor performances in preseason and the previous campaign. He made errors in recent matches. Signing Hermansen shows West Ham is serious about improving its goalkeeping. They want to do better than their mid-table finish last season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR WEST HAM AND HERMANSEN?

Once Hermansen passes his medical check, he will compete with Areola for the starting spot. West Ham’s first Premier League match is next weekend. They will want to improve from last season’s performances, where they finished 10th in the Premier League.

West Ham hopes the new signing will improve their performance. They will play against Sunderland, a newly-promoted team. Both teams aim for a strong start. West Ham wants to close the gap with European spots, and Hermansen’s presence will be key to improving their defense in these early games.
