Iván Azón Joins Ipswich Town on Loan in High-Stakes Deal

Spanish striker Iván Azón will join Ipswich Town on loan from Como. If Ipswich get promoted to the Premier League, his move can become permanent.

THE TRANSFER AGREEMENT

Iván Azón, 22, will move from Como to Ipswich Town on an initial loan. Ipswich have made a big loan offer for Azón, reported to be €2 million in upfront fees as confirmed by multiple sources. They must buy him for slightly under €15 million at the end of the 2025-26 season if promoted to the Premier League. Azón joined Como from Real Zaragoza in January but had no Serie A minutes under manager Cesc Fabregas. However, he previously showed decent form in preseason matches, scoring three goals. Valencia were also in the race to sign Azón on loan for the 2025-26 season, but Ipswich finally won the striker’s signature, effectively stopping his transfer to Valencia on a last-minute bid as per reports.

AZÓN’S PROFILE AND THE CLUB’S AMBITIONS

Azón can play across the frontline and is a strong, physical attacker who likes to work hard. In England, he will be expected to use his physicality and goalscoring instincts to lead Ipswich Town into the Premier League. The Tractor Boys have just been relegated from the Premier League on their first season back but are currently in a decent position this campaign to push for promotion, as they aim to avoid the drop and strive for a higher table position according to reports. They will want to push for automatic promotion given to the 2 first teams, and a few good results could see them move into the top three.

LOOKING AHEAD: FIXTURES AND EXPECTATIONS

Adding Azón perfectly augments Ipswich Town’s ambitions for promotion. They are facing Sheffield Wednesday in their next match in the Championship, and Azón could make his debut in this match.
