Everton Sign Rising Star Reuben Gokah from Charlton Athletic

Everton have signed young defender Reuben Gokah from Charlton Athletic on a long-term deal. This is an important move for their youth team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 16-year-old player has joined Everton after shining in Charlton‘s academy and playing for England at youth levels. He will join Everton’s under-18 team. Everton are committed to signing top young players. Club officials believe Gokah can become a first-team player in the future. Today, they completed his multi-year contract.

EVERTON’S NEW YOUTH PROJECT

Everton are making big changes by investing in their academy and fast-tracking talented youth players to the first team. They have a strong history of producing stars such as Wayne Rooney, and aim to develop Gokah the same way. This summer, they are looking for experienced players to improve after finishing 15th in the Premier League last season, narrowly avoiding relegation. With David Moyes returning as manager, developing young players is a big part of their plan.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Gokah will soon start training with Everton’s under-18 squad at Finch Farm to prepare for the upcoming Premier League U18 competition. Their first team is preparing for the new Premier League season and will face Leeds United on Saturday at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, Everton U18s take on Manchester United in their first U18 match, hoping to bridge the big gap that separated them from Mike Geoghegan’s team at the top of the table last season. The Merseysiders anticipate Gokah’s arrival will usher in a new era in their academy as well as speed up the larger gap-closing project in the Premier League itself.
