Roma Reject Inter’s Move for Manu Koné Amid Transfer Negotiations

AS Roma have decided not to sell midfielder Manu Koné after turning down an offer from Inter Milan. The club’s owners want to keep the French international. He is important to coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans for the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Inter Milan tried to sign Manu Koné and talked to Roma in the last 24 hours. Roma declined their first offer. Inter’s bid was over €40 million plus add-ons, but Roma want at least €50 million, as they value the player highly according to reports. Coach Gasperini considers Koné essential for his project. He wants the player to stay. Even though Roma could negotiate due to financial reasons, they are firm now: Koné will remain in Rome.

ROMA’S SEASON SO FAR

Roma started the 2025/26 Serie A aiming to improve from last season’s top-six finish. The team’s midfield, led by Koné’s strong performances, helps in their matches. Koné has been a standout, playing nearly every minute. Roma finished fifth in the previous season, falling short of Champions League qualification in the last match of the season. The team hopes to climb higher as key players stay focused and healthy.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ROMA AND INTER?

Roma’s next match is against Bologna, who finished 9th but won the Coppa Italia last season. Both teams want a win to push into the top positions early in the season. Inter is looking at other midfield targets after missing Koné, as they prepare to face struggling Torino. The transfer window is open for two more weeks. Roma’s squad could change with more negotiations and offers. For now, Koné seems to be part of Gasperini’s plans.
