Chelsea Close to Signing Alejandro Garnacho to Bolster Left Wing

Chelsea are about to sign Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. Manager Enzo Maresca wants to strengthen the left side of his attack.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Maresca has openly said Chelsea need more options on the left wing. He noted they currently only have Jamie and Tyrique George there. The club is set to get help in the form of Garnacho. They are in talks with Manchester United to sign Alejandro Garnacho this summer, and an agreement is in place with the player.

Garnacho is keen to move to Stamford Bridge. Reports indicate that Garnacho has agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and the club hopes to complete the transfer before the window closes, thus stepping up talks with United. The Red Devils want £50 million for Garnacho, while Chelsea are looking to pay around £30 million. Garnacho wants to join Chelsea and will negotiate with Manchester United about the transfer fee.

WHY GARNACHO AND WHY NOW?

Garnacho, 21, is one of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League but he does not get along well with United’s manager Ruben Amorim. Having been benched for the Europa League final, his frustration with a lack of playing time has been evident, leading to questions about his attitude. Despite these issues, there is no doubt about Garnacho’s talent; last season, he finished with a total of 11 goals and 9 assists in all competitions, and Chelsea see him as the perfect player to strengthen their team. After finishing 15th last season, the Red Devils are rebuilding whereas Conference League and Club World Cup winners, the Blues are eager to reclaim their place among the top four. Chelsea’s left wingers also lack experience, making Garnacho a promising candidate for immediate playtime.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHELSEA AND GARNACHO?

Chelsea will face Crystal Palace in their next Premier League match. It will be a tough test against a team that have already won the Community Shield this season.

Garnacho could make his Chelsea debut very soon. Both United and Chelsea are hoping to finalize a deal shortly. The Red Devils, in the interim, could use the funds from Garnacho’s sale to invest in other players as they aim for a better position than last season’s 15th finish in the league.
