Fulham in Advanced Talks for Shakhtar’s Brazilian Winger Kevin

Fulham are ready for another meeting with Kevin’s agents as they try to sign the Brazilian winger from Shakhtar Donetsk before the summer transfer window ends. Reports indicate that Fulham are actively pursuing the 22-year-old winger.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Fulham have had two bids for Kevin turned down by Shakhtar. Their latest offer was €37 million, but Shakhtar Donetsk reportedly want at least £43 million. The London club plans a meeting with the player’s agents next week, hoping to make a deal. Kevin, 22, has been excellent in the Europa League qualifiers, scoring four goals and assisting two in three matches. Kevin’s market value has risen quickly with his performances.

WHY FULHAM NEED KEVIN

Fulham want more attacking options after a quiet transfer window and the departure of veteran winger Willian. The current bid for Kevin would be a record signing, more than last season’s acquisition of Emile Smith-Rowe. Manager Marco Silva has asked for more players, wanting creativity and speed on the flanks. Last season, Fulham finished mid-table in the Premier League and are now aiming for European qualification. The team has drawn their 1st match with a 97th minute goal by Rodrigo Muniz, and will be hosting Manchester United next.

WHAT NEXT FOR THE CLUBS?

Negotiations are expected to continue into next week. Fulham’s next match is against European contenders Manchester United in the Premier League. United open their campaign against last season’s runner-ups Arsenal and, if they fail to win the match, may put even more pressure in Marco Silva’s team. Shakhtar, meanwhile, are preparing for the start of the Ukrainian Premier League campaign and the next round of Europa League qualifiers. If Fulham and Shakhtar agree on a deal, Kevin would become Fulham’s most expensive signing and bring a much-needed boost to the squad’s attack.
