Atalanta Make €16 Million Move for Inter’s Nicola Zalewski

Atalanta have made an official bid of €16 million to sign Nicola Zalewski from Inter Milan. Both clubs are moving quickly to complete the transfer before the end of the summer window.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Atalanta have offered €16 million for Polish left wing-back Nicola Zalewski. Talks have progressed rapidly after Inter confirmed they were open to selling him. Zalewski, who joined Inter permanently in the summer after an initial loan from Roma, played as a left wing-back, right wing-back, and even in an attacking midfield role last season. Atalanta had previously tried to bring Robin Gosens back but turned their attention to Zalewski after Fiorentina rejected their advances for the German full-back. Previous disagreements between Inter and Atalanta over forward Ademola Lookman have reportedly not affected these latest negotiations. According to a report, Inter Milan offered €40 million for Ademola Lookman, indicating both clubs are keen on making adjustments to their squads.

SEASON SO FAR: TEAM & PLAYER FORM

Inter Milan started the 2025-26 Serie A season strongly, and will want to have a strong start to their opening match against Torino, as they look at improving last season’s 2nd place finish. Atalanta are also looking at a strong start under manager Ivan Juric, as they aim to improve on last season’s 3rd place. They are eager to strengthen their squad, particularly the left side of their defense, after missing out on Robin Gosens.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE CLUBS?

Negotiations between Inter and Atalanta are moving fast as both sides want to finalize the transfer before Atalanta’s next Serie A fixture. Atalanta face Pisa, who are back in the Serie A after being promoted last season. Inter, meanwhile, prepare for an important match against 10th place from last season, and Atalanta’s coach former team, Torino. If the deal is agreed quickly, Zalewski could join his new teammates before the next round and provide immediate depth as Atalanta look to close the gap on the top four.
