Bologna Confident of Sealing Deal for Inter Midfielder Kristjan Asllani

Bologna are in advanced talks to sign Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani from Inter. The clubs have agreed on a fee, and contract terms are now being discussed. Bologna believe they will reach an agreement soon as they aim to improve their squad for the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The two clubs have agreed on a transfer framework: Bologna will pay around €10 million to Inter Milan. Inter will also receive a 40% sell-on clause for any future sale of Asllani. Negotiations are underway between Bologna and Asllani’s representatives over the final contract details. Asllani joined Inter from Empoli in 2022 and reportedly rejected a move to Real Betis because he wants to continue playing in Serie A. The 23-year-old midfielder is expected to sign a long-term contract with Bologna until 2029, with an option for an additional year until 2030.

BOLOGNA’S PLANS FOR THE NEW SEASON

Bologna finished 9th last season in Serie A, securing Europa League qualification with their Coppa Italia win. Asllani’s signing is part of their plan to build a team capable of competing in both Italy and Europe. Bologna’s midfield will play a key role in their busy 2025-26 campaign. Their next match is against Roma, who finished just above Bologna in 5th place last year. Bologna were close behind Roma last season and are eager to close the gap quickly this year, relying on new signings like Asllani to help them achieve that.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR INTER AND ASLLANI?

Asllani struggled for first-team minutes at Inter, making 19 Serie A appearances last season, mostly as a substitute, with one goal and one assist. Inter, the Serie A runner-ups, are looking to refresh their midfield, and selling Asllani provides funds for new signings. Bologna hope the Albanian international will add quality and depth to their midfield as they prepare for a challenging schedule, with their Europa League group stage debut approaching. All parties are pushing to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes.
