FC Porto Want to Sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal

FC Porto still want Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior. They are looking for a new central defender. Talks are ongoing after Arsenal turned down an initial bid in July. The deal is difficult because Kiwior is considered important by Arsenal. But Porto’s determination could help the transfer before the transfer window closes.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kiwior, 25, was left out of Arsenal’s squad for their Premier League opener against Manchester United. This move increased speculation about his future. Kiwior made 30 appearances last season but started only 10 Premier League matches. He has slipped down the current order following Arsenal’s signing of Cristhian Mosquera. Reports indicate Porto first made an offer in July—a loan with an obligation to buy—but it was rejected. Porto are pushing hard, and other teams like AC Milan are monitoring the situation. According to reports, Kiwior’s future at Arsenal is uncertain as many European clubs are interested in signing him, which could prompt a move if negotiations progress this week.

ARSENAL’S SEASON SO FAR

Arsenal finished last season as Premier League runners-up with 74 points and began with a victory over Manchester United. They aim to build on last season’s strong performance, but strong competition means players like Kiwior face limited playing time. Mosquera and returning defender Gabriel now stand higher in Mikel Arteta’s plans. Arsenal prefers a permanent transfer and is looking for at least £20 million for Kiwior, as they want to boost their budget for a prominent left winger. The Gunners have three years remaining on Kiwior’s contract, which runs until June 2028, but are open to his departure for regular football. Manager Mikel Arteta wants Kiwior to stay, but Kiwior desires more playing time, complicating his situation further as confirmed by recent reports.

WHAT NEXT FOR PORTO AND ARSENAL?

Porto finished third in the Primeira Liga last season and is looking to strengthen their defense ahead of a new campaign and European fixtures. Their next match is against Casa Pia before visiting Sporting, last season’s League and Cup winners. Arsenal’s next fixture is against Leeds United, who won their opener against Everton as Palace are also interested in Kiwior, preparing for life without Marc Guehi, rumored to be Liverpool-bound. If Porto can meet Arsenal’s demands and fend off interest from AC Milan and Palace, Kiwior could soon move to Portugal.
