Galatasaray in Talks for Manuel Akanji, Manchester City Defender Could Leave

Manchester City might let Manuel Akanji go after Galatasaray made an official offer. The player’s decision is key.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Galatasaray wants Swiss defender Manuel Akanji. They made an initial contract offer to strengthen their defense; Galatasaray have officially approached Manchester City about signing defender Manuel Akanji. Akanji’s agent will be in Istanbul soon to talk more. Manchester City started negotiations with Galatasaray, and it’s up to Akanji if he leaves. City manager Pep Guardiola said he wants a smaller squad for less competition. Akanji, who joined City in September 2022 and has played 136 times for the club, was not in the starting lineup for City’s first Premier League game of the season. His contract runs until 2027.
