Chelsea Set to Secure Julio Enciso in Long-Term Multi-Club Move

Chelsea are finalising an agreement to sign exciting attacker Julio Enciso from Brighton with the view to initially see him join Strasbourg before eventually moving to Stamford Bridge as part of a long-term project.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo, are close to completing a deal to sign Julio Enciso from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. The Paraguayan attacker is expected to join Strasbourg, Chelsea’s Ligue 1 affiliate, for the 2025/26 season. The move has been structured in line with FIFA loan regulations and takes advantage of BlueCo’s multi-club network, as he will eventually become part of Chelsea’s first-team plans for the future after gaining experience in Ligue 1.

WHY CHELSEA WANT ENCISO

Chelsea have placed an emphasis on signing young, high-potential players who fit their attacking style and long-term vision under the new ownership model. Enciso, who was highlighted by scouts during his breakthrough in Paraguay and impressive Copa America performances, fits this strategy perfectly. The 23-year-old brings excitement, creativity, and energy in attack, while also boasting a market value of close to €21.2 million. Chelsea see Enciso as a smart investment and did their utmost to sign him, with negotiations being complicated as numerous offers were exchanged with Brighton before the deal was agreed.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CLUBS AND PLAYERS?

Enciso is set to join Strasbourg for the 2025/26 Ligue 1 campaign after preparing in France and will bring added energy in attack to Liam Rosenior’s side. Les Bleus finished 7th in the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season, qualifying for the Conference League, where they will be facing Brondby in the playoffs for a spot in the group stage. Chelsea finished 4th in the Premier League in 2024/25, securing themselves European football but eager to push even higher. Brighton ended the year in 8th position, failing to qualify for Europe. When the deal is completed, Chelsea will be eager to integrate Enciso into their first-team plans following his development spell in France, as they continue building for the future. Both clubs will be keeping a close eye on Enciso’s adaptation.
