Chelsea Manager Confirms Aaron Anselmino Will Go On Loan
Enzo Maresca has revealed that young defender Aaron Anselmino will leave Chelsea on loan this summer for more game time.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Maresca praised Anselmino as a “fantastic boy” and “good player,” but said he needs regular match experience. Anselmino joined Chelsea from Boca Juniors last year and was recalled from loan in January 2025. He made his Chelsea debut in June during a 4-1 win over Benfica at the Club World Cup. Several clubs, including Real Betis and RC Strasbourg, are interested in signing Anselmino on loan.
WHY DOES ANSELMINO NEED A LOAN MOVE?
Chelsea’s squad is full of young talent, making it difficult for new players to break into the starting eleven. They aim to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish in the Premier League and push for European qualification. Anselmino needs match experience for his development. A club with fewer defenders may provide the chances he needs to grow.
WHAT COMES NEXT FOR CHELSEA AND ANSELMINO?
Anselmino’s destination is not yet confirmed, but Betis and Strasbourg are strong options. Chelsea started their Premier League season last week with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, and will be visiting West Ham United next. If Anselmino joins Betis, he will join a club that will be fighting for European spots in a competitive league. Strasbourg, in Ligue 1, ended last season in 7th, qualifying for the Conference League. Wherever he goes, Anselmino hopes for regular football and to return to Chelsea with more experience, ready to compete for a place in the team.
