Manchester United Closing In on Senne Lammens Transfer Deal

Manchester United are moving forward in talks to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Personal terms are almost agreed.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT OLD TRAFFORD?

Manchester United are actively negotiating for Senne Lammens. They want a deal before other clubs in France and Italy show interest. Lammens, who joined from Club Brugge in 2023, is contracted until 2027. He has gained attention for his composed play. United need more goalkeeper options as some players may leave. It’s reported that Lammens wants to join United. Personal terms are close to agreement, with only the fee and transfer structure left to discuss. According to reports, Lammens has expressed interest in a move to the Premier League.

WHY UNITED WANT LAMMENS

Lammens, 23, is a promising young goalkeeper in Europe. He played over 30 matches last season for Royal Antwerp, showcasing good reflexes and control. Manchester United finished fifteenth in the Premier League and conceded 54 goals, and are actively looking for a replacement for Onana. Current goalkeeper André Onana had some struggles. United are looking for a trustworthy backup or future starter. Lammens’ potential and experience in Belgium make him a strong candidate. Antwerp finished third in the Belgian Pro League, with Lammens helping them in European qualification. Notably, he kept 12 clean sheets in over 50 appearances since joining Royal Antwerp in 2023.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR UNITED AND LAMMENS?

United’s next game is a Premier League away game at Fulham, after having lost the opener 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford. They aim to improve from last year and get back into European football as soon as possible. With several goalkeepers possibly leaving soon, signing Lammens would give manager Ruben Amorim needed options. If the deal is completed before the weekend, Lammens could be on the bench against Fulham. Antwerp, preparing for their own league opener, must quickly replace him if he leaves.
