Thomas Frank Dismisses Richarlison Exit Rumours at Tottenham

Tottenham coach Thomas Frank has strongly denied rumours about Richarlison leaving the club. Frank said the striker is a key part of his plans and wants to stay.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Richarlison was linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, with reports suggesting he could be used in a swap deal for another striker or sold to a club in Serie A, Saudi Arabia or even a Premier League rival. However, despite earlier offers and the widespread reports linking him with a move, Richarlison chose to stay at Tottenham after talks with his advisors during pre-season.

Frank made his stance clear after Richarlison’s standout performance against Burnley, where he scored two crucial goals and seemed back in his best form. Frank said: “Richy wants to stay, I want to keep him and there’s been no talks about anything else.”

There have been no discussions of a transfer at the club since he became Frank’s preferred striker this season, the club insist.

RICHARLISON’S STRONG START TO THE SEASON

Richarlison has begun the season in top form, leading Tottenham’s attack. His brace and assist against Burnley ensured Spurs took maximum points in their first Premier League match this term. Richarlison scored twice as Tottenham beat Burnley 3-0 in that match, and across two games under Frank, he has shown improved work rate, movement, and finishing. Last season, he netted 13 goals in the league despite starting only 16 matches. He also came on as a substitute in four games before two of his goals came in his first start of the campaign on Monday.

Richarlison’s tally of 13 meant he was the club’s top scorer in the league last term despite starting considerably fewer games. Going by Frank’s public support for him, it seems likely that Richarlison may open matches more frequently this season compared to last year.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA AND RICHARLISON?

Richarlison’s form and minutes keep him in the picture for Brazil, where he was a regular but later found himself out of the squad for their matches earlier this year. Regular starts could help him earn a recall before the next Copa America. As the transfer window approaches its final days, no further talks about Richarlison’s departure are expected as he is likely to stay at the club. Tottenham aim to continue their strong start when they face Manchester City away next weekend. A win could see Spurs leapfrog Manchester City in the standings, who are currently narrowly ahead of them in the league place, as Tottenham are currently sitting on top of the Premier League table.
