West Ham Close to Signing Soungoutou Magassa in €20M Deal

West Ham United is close to signing French midfielder Soungoutou Magassa from AS Monaco. They have offered €17 million plus €3 million in add-ons.

WHAT HAPPENED?

West Ham has made an official offer for Magassa as manager Graham Potter wants new midfielders before the transfer window closes. The team needs help after losing 3-0 to Sunderland in their first match. They have lost Edson Alvarez to Fenerbahçe and Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham, making the midfield weak. Magassa, who can play as a defensive midfielder or center-back, could be a great fit. Magassa has made a mark in Ligue 1, playing 29 games last season, which highlights his readiness for a competitive league like the Premier League.

WEST HAM’S SEASON SO FAR

West Ham had a bad start, losing to Sunderland. They have signed only four players this summer, and fans are concerned about the midfield. They are near the bottom of the league table. Their next match is against Chelsea, who are one of the title contenders. West Ham needs to win soon to avoid a bad start and stay out of the relegation zone. After finishing 14th in the Premier League last season, retaining or replacing key players like Lucas Paquetá will be crucial for West Ham’s hopes of a stable season.

WHAT NEXT FOR MAGASSA AND WEST HAM?

Talks with Monaco are progressing fast, and the club might accept West Ham’s offer. Magassa could help Potter fill gaps in his team and make them stronger. If the deal goes through by September 1, Magassa might play soon and help improve the midfield. Monaco, who is aiming for Champions League qualification again this year after finishing third last season, will need to find a replacement for their young star if he leaves.
