Eberechi Eze Seals Dream Arsenal Move in £60m Deal

Eberechi Eze has completed his transfer from Crystal Palace to Arsenal for £60 million plus add-ons. He has dreamed of playing for the Gunners. The move was confirmed just before Arsenal’s match against Leeds United.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal announced Eze as their new signing. They reached a deal worth up to £67.5 million, which is made up of an initial £60 million and could rise with add-ons of £7.5 million according to reports. The 26-year-old midfielder signed a four-year contract with an option for another year. Eze was released by Arsenal at 13 and now returns to his childhood club 14 years later. Sources close to the deal said Eze rejected offers from Tottenham Hotspur and chose Arsenal because it was his dream. He will wear the No.10 shirt for the Gunners this season.

BIG IMPLICATIONS FOR ARSENAL AND PALACE

Arsenal’s signing of Eze gives their coach Mikel Arteta a creative midfielder. Last season, Eze was one of Crystal Palace‘s best players, with 12 goals and 5 assists in 31 Premier League games reports confirm. Arsenal finished second last season, just ten points behind Liverpool. The club hopes Eze can help them win the title this season. Crystal Palace, who finished 13th last season, now have to find a replacement for their important playmaker.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARSENAL AND EZE?

Eze is expected to make his debut when Arsenal visit current champions Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal are currently top in the Premier League after the first two games, as well as every other team that won their two opening matches, like Tottenham. Arsenal aims to win their first league title in more than 20 years following a strong start. All eyes will be on Eze, who will be under pressure to make an immediate impact and help create a gap to other contenders like Manchester City and Liverpool. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, host Nottingham Forest next and will be looking to recover from the loss of one of their biggest stars.
