Barcelona Stage Dramatic Comeback to Beat Levante in LaLiga Thriller

Barcelona produced an incredible turnaround against Levante, coming back from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win and keep their perfect start to the new La Liga season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Newly promoted Levante produced a standout performance against the defending champions that culminated in them heading into half-time with a 2-0 lead after goals from Ivan de la Pena and Pep Ramon. Barca coach Hansi Flick’s half-time woes deepened when Marcus Rashford was forced off with an injury seven minutes into the second-half and the Catalans eventually had to wait until the 82nd minute for a penalty from Joel Vinicius to spark their comeback.

Pedri fired in from close range two minutes later to bring Barca level before the turnaround was completed in the 92nd minute when Ferran Torres applied the finish to a brilliant counter-attack.

BARCA’S SEASON SO FAR & STANDINGS

Barca have taken six points from their opening two La Liga matches and sit top of the table ahead Real Madrid’s match against Real Oviedo, putting pressure on their rivals. As reported, Flick’s side are yet to concede a goal this season and the fact they were able to bounce back after falling two goals behind at Levante will be a huge boost to the German coach.

Ferran Torres is settling quickly into his new role as Barcelona’s main man and has continued the form he showed last season as a backup or even addition to Lewandowski. Pedri is also slowly returning after his injury nightmare of 2022-23 and will be a huge asset for Barca once he is back to full fitness.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BARCELONA?

Barcelona travel to Rayo Vallecano in their next La Liga match next Sunday before the international break in early September

As reports confirm, the hope will be that Marcus Rashford will be making progress from his injury suffered against Levante with the Catalans needing not only to manage his recovery but also avoid their other key players getting hurt during this fixture pile-up. Flick also needs his players to finally step up and help Ferran Torres on the pitch as the Spaniard continues to carry a huge load for his new club.
