Rúben Amorim Urges Patience As Benjamin Šeško Eases Into Manchester United Squad

Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has called for patience with new signing Benjamin Šeško after the striker was again named among the substitutes for the match against Fulham.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In their Premier League fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Manchester United left both star goalkeeper André Onana and forward Benjamin Šeško on the bench. Amorim explained, “Benjamin has been with us for two weeks, he’s trying to understand everything. We need to be patient a little.” United’s recent €85 million acquisition made his debut against Arsenal, playing the final 25 minutes in a narrow 1-0 defeat but was unable to make a decisive impact.

Šeško, who joined late in the summer window, has now started his first two United games on the bench. Amorim emphasized that the priority is “to win the match and try to help all our players” as the team adapts to new arrivals and aims to recover from their opening loss to Arsenal. As reported, Šeško has agreed on personal terms with Manchester United until June 2030, which underscores his importance to the club’s plans moving forward.

ŠEŠKO’S ARRIVAL AND UNITED’S SEASON SO FAR

Šeško arrived after a long transfer pursuit involving interest from Newcastle United, as highlighted in prior reports. His signing was seen as a major boost for United’s forward line, joining a new-look attack expected to feature alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The striker, however, joined too late for pre-season matches and is still getting used to United’s style under Amorim. Last season, Šeško scored 21 goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig, including four in the UEFA Champions League, raising hopes for an immediate impact in England.

Manchester United opened the 2025/26 Premier League season with a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal. That result leaves them behind rivals in the early standings, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea all starting with victories. Fulham, United’s opponents tonight, finished 14th last season and also lost their opening match this season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR UNITED AND ŠEŠKO?

After visiting Fulham, United face Burnley, who won this weekend and are ahead of United. United are already under pressure to secure their first points of the campaign to avoid slipping further behind the league leaders. With Šeško’s adaptation ongoing, fans hope to see him feature more in the coming weeks—especially as United look to improve their attacking output and climb up the table. The team sits mid-table and must bridge the gap to their top four rivals as quickly as possible.
