Everton Close In On £42m Deal For Southampton Starlet Tyler Dibling

Everton are about to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton. They have agreed on a £42 million deal. The 19-year-old winger will have a medical check in the next 24 hours.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Everton and Southampton agreed on the deal for Tyler Dibling over the weekend. The deal includes £6 million in bonuses and a 20% sell-on clause. Dibling scored four goals in 38 Premier League games for Southampton last season, showcasing his capability as an attacking midfielder or winger. Dibling is set for his Everton medical soon. He could be Everton’s eighth summer signing. If things go well, the club can announce him as a new player before facing Wolves away from home.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR EVERTON?

Everton needed creative attackers after Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison left. Manager David Moyes wanted more options for the right wing due to inconsistent performances. Dibling, regarded as a “younger but bigger Jack Grealish,” could learn from Grealish himself. Everton’s summer signings, as part of their strategy to develop young talents, reflect this approach. Everton finished the previous season in 15th place, narrowly avoiding relegation. They see Dibling as key to building a more dynamic and youthful attack, aligning with their ambition to improve significantly this year.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?

If the deal is completed in time, Dibling might be in the squad when Everton travel to Wolves. Everton started the season well, sitting mid-table, with one win and one loss so far while Wolves have struggled and have lost their two opening matches of the season. A win might move Everton into the top seven. Southampton, on the other hand, are currently 15th in the Championship after two matches, just one point above the relegation zone. Losing Dibling is a setback, but the funds from his transfer might help them invest further. All eyes are on whether Dibling can make an immediate impact and help Everton this season.
