Como Reach Agreement With Swedish Goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist For 2026 Move
Swedish goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist is set to join Serie A side Como. A deal is nearly complete for January 2026.
There are talks about whether he will stay with current club Mjällby or move to Italy sooner.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Como have a preliminary deal with 23-year-old Noel Törnqvist, who plays for Mjällby in the Swedish Allsvenskan. The deal is set for January 2026.
However, the clubs are still discussing if Törnqvist will stay at Mjällby until then or join Como earlier. Törnqvist has played 86 times for Mjällby and has a contract until December 2026.
He has drawn interest from clubs like Olympiakos and Empoli, and is valued at around €1.3 million. This season, Törnqvist has played 15 league matches for Mjällby, keeping five clean sheets. He also has a 79% save percentage, showing good form.
ASPECTS TO KNOW: TEAM AND PLAYER PERFORMANCE
Mjällby have benefited from Törnqvist’s form in goal. They are near the top of Allsvenskan this season, in third place, just three points from leaders Malmö FF.
Törnqvist has kept five clean sheets, conceding 12 goals in 15 matches, and has earned high ratings in tight games. Como are now in the top of the Serie A after the opening match, having recently defeated Lazio 2-0 in their first game of the season, which has boosted their confidence as they aim to qualify for Europe in their second season in the top flight. They are currently top of the table, along with every winner form matchday 1, and are looking for reinforcements, especially a goalkeeper, to ensure their top-flight status.
WHAT COMES NEXT FOR BOTH CLUBS?
If Mjällby and Como reach an agreement soon, Törnqvist may stay in Sweden for the rest of the 2025 Allsvenskan season, or he may move to Italy in January 2026.
Mjällby’s next match is against Hammarby, another team chasing a top-three finish in the league. Como have a tough away fixture against last season’s Coppa Italia winner Bologna.
Both teams face pressure – Mjällby to keep pace with league leaders and Como to continue their good form. The final decision on Törnqvist’s move date will be key for both clubs as they progress through an important part of their seasons.
