Tyler Dibling Leaves Southampton to Join Everton in Major Summer Transfer
Everton have signed Tyler Dibling from Southampton for up to £42 million, including add-ons. The 19-year-old winger is joining David Moyes’ squad as the club aims to rebuild this summer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Dibling, who played 33 Premier League matches for Southampton last season, has moved to Everton. The deal includes a 20 per cent sell-on clause. After breaking into the first team, the winger is the eighth player to join Dibling, joining Thierno Barry, Jack Grealish, Mark Travers, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Adam Aznou, Tom King, and Carlos Alcaraz at the Toffees after Dibling has now signed a permanent deal.
Everton’s summer spending spree now stands at £124 million to significantly improve their squad and turn into a powerhouse in the Premier League.
EVERTON’S SEASON SO FAR
Everton started the season with a loss to Leeds United away on the opening day, and a win at home against Brighton in their first Premier League match at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, leading to a lot of excitement among fans and players about the club’s new chapter. Dibling said: “The fan base, the new stadium, and the family aspect – it’s perfect for me.”
After matchday one, Everton sit mid-table in the league. Wolves would be their next opponent, who desperately need points after losing their two opening matches.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR DIBLING AND EVERTON?
Dibling will have to settle quickly at Everton and try to impress Moyes with his direct style of football. With Premier League experience, he is expected to compete for a starting spot immediately at his new club. Everton’s next few fixtures will be key for their new signings to help them build momentum over rivals and meet the ambitions of the club bosses. Southampton, on the other hand, will have to regroup and bounce back after losing their key academy product and thereby ending up near the bottom of the table. Over the next couple of weeks, it will be interesting to see if Dibling manages to adjust to his new club and is able to justify Everton’s investments this summer.
