Wolves Turn Down Second £55m Bid from Newcastle for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolverhampton Wanderers said no to a second £55 million offer from Newcastle United for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The club doesn’t want to sell their key forward. Strand Larsen signed a new long-term deal with Wolverhampton until June 2029, solidifying his importance to the team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Newcastle raised their bid to £55 million for Jorgen Strand Larsen after their first £50 million offer was rejected. Wolves said no again and made it clear they won’t sell the Norwegian striker at that price.

Strand Larsen scored two late goals to help Wolves beat West Ham 3-2 in the Carabao Cup third round on the same night of the bid. Wolves manager Vitor Pereira said, “For me, he is very, very important for us…but I would prefer to keep him at Wolves for as long as possible.”

STRAND LARSEN’S IMPACT AND WOLVES’ AMBITIONS

Jorgen Strand Larsen has done well this season. He has scored two goals after a successful last season in the Premier League. According to his shot conversion rate was 25.9% last season, indicating his effectiveness in front of goal. Wolves lost their two opening matches, and will be desperate for attacking power as they try to get their first win of their league season next weekend.

Wolves want to do better and finish in the top half. They need Strand Larsen’s goals to get there. The club moved to the third round of the Carabao Cup after beating West Ham.

WHAT NEXT FOR NEWCASTLE AND WOLVES?

There’s only one week left until the transfer window closes. Newcastle might try signing Strand Larsen again and offer more money. They reportedly need him to replace Callum Wilson. Also, Alexander Isak might leave the club.

The Magpies are tenth in the league and have drawn their last two matches. The season’s goals include Champions League qualification, and they will need a striker to help with that goal if Isak is not part of the plans.

Meanwhile, Wolves are set to play Everton at Molineux. The match is important as Everton could be an opponent in the fight for survival but have already won one match. The club and its fans don’t want to lose Strand Larsen, as they want to finish in the top six.
