Kostas Tsimikas Close to AS Roma Loan Move

Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas is set to join AS Roma on loan. The deal is almost ready. The Greek left-back will be with the Italian club until June 2026. AS Roma will pay his salary and Tsimikas has agreed to the move as he is now available for a straight loan.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Liverpool and Roma have been talking a lot in recent days. Tsimikas was not in Liverpool’s last three match squads, as he is now the third-choice left-back at Liverpool after not playing competitively this season. He really wanted this move to happen. Roma hoped Liverpool would agree, and now it seems the deal is almost done. There are a few details left to sort out. Tsimikas will play in Serie A for two seasons. Roma might keep him permanently after the loan.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Liverpool has a strong defense on the left. Andy Robertson is their main choice, and they signed Milos Kerkez. Tsimikas was not needed anymore even though his contract runs until 2027. Roma’s new manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, wants to improve his team. Roma finished fifth in Serie A last season and aims to do better this year by challenging for the title after allowing 47 goals. Tsimikas’s addition will give their squad more depth.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Tsimikas should join Roma before their game against Pisa in Serie A. Roma is top of the league, after beating Bologna in their league opener. Liverpool is currently top of the table in the Premier League along with Arsenal and Tottenham after recently beating Newcastle 3-2. Their next game is against Arsenal, as they try to create a gap between them and last season’s runner-ups. With both Tsimikas and young talent Salah-Eddine set to leave the respective teams, Liverpool might make more changes to their team before the transfer window closes.
