AC Milan Close In On Adrien Rabiot Transfer As Talks Continue
AC Milan are in advanced negotiations to sign Adrien Rabiot from Olympique de Marseille. Discussions are ongoing over a potential €15 million transfer fee, with Marseille willing to sell Rabiot for about €15 million.
WHAT HAPPENED?
AC Milan have intensified talks to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot before the summer transfer window closes. The 30-year-old was placed on Marseille’s transfer list after a dressing room fight with Jonathan Rowe on the first day of the Ligue 1 season. Rowe has left for Bologna, and Rabiot could join him in Italy. Milan are negotiating with his representatives and Marseille. While Marseille’s valuation stands at €15 million, Milan are working on a financial solution. The club has agreed to sell Yunus Musah to Atalanta for around €25 million, paving the way for Rabiot’s arrival.
Max Allegri has praised Rabiot, confirming their strong relationship from their days together at Juventus, as he hopes to reunite with him on the pitch according to reports.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
AC Milan finished eighth in Serie A last season, missing out on European competitions. Rabiot is seen as a key addition to bolster the midfield following the departure of Yunus Musah. Last season, Rabiot contributed nine goals in 20 league games, showcasing his offensive capabilities as well as his experience on the field.
NEXT MATCH AND WHAT’S NEXT?
AC Milan kick off their Serie A season against Bologna with the game scheduled to be played in two weeks. This match will test Milan’s new-look midfield, depending on whether Rabiot’s transfer is completed in time. Meanwhile, Marseille face Lyon in Ligue 1, and the loss of Rabiot would be a significant blow as Marseille aims to secure Champions League qualification.
