Kerem Aktürkoğlu Flies To Istanbul Ahead Of Record Move To Fenerbahçe
Kerem Aktürkoğlu is heading to Istanbul to complete a record-breaking transfer to Fenerbahçe.
KEREM AKTÜRKOLU JOINS FENERBAHÇE
Fenerbahçe and Benfica have agreed on a deal for Turkish winger Kerem Aktürkoğlu. The transfer fee is reported to be between €20 million and €25 million, making it Fenerbahçe’s biggest ever according to reports. Aktürkoğlu flew from Portugal to finalize medical checks and sign the contract. Benfica notified Galatasaray due to a sell-on clause, but Galatasaray chose not to buy him back. The winger has left Benfica and will now play for Fenerbahçe.
SEASON PERFORMANCE AND IMPACT
Aktürkoğlu, 26, had a great season. Last year, he played in 54 matches for Benfica, contributing 16 goals and 12 assists in all competitions as noted in previous reports. Before moving to Portugal, he won two Turkish Süper Lig titles with Galatasaray. Fenerbahçe finished second in the league last season, just behind Galatasaray. They also missed out on the Champions League after losing to Benfica. Aktürkoğlu will add new attacking options, especially after Fenerbahçe’s recent change of manager, as they aim to strengthen their squad.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR FENERBAHÇE?
Aktürkoğlu will soon undergo his medical exam. If all goes well, he’ll sign his contract and start training with the team. Fenerbahçe’s next game is against Gençlerbirliği in the Süper Lig. They are currently in second place, just behind Galatasaray, and one point ahead of Trabzonspor. Gençlerbirliği is near the bottom, fighting relegation. Fenerbahçe hopes to close the gap and compete for the title, with Aktürkoğlu making an immediate impact.
