RB Leipzig Set To Sign Conrad Harder After Sporting Stint

RB Leipzig is close to signing Danish striker Conrad Harder from Sporting CP. Only minor details are left before he travels to Germany for his medical.

WHAT HAPPENED?

RB Leipzig has verbally agreed to sign 20-year-old Conrad Harder from Sporting CP. The fee is €23 million with up to €4 million in bonuses. They are finalizing the contract details. Harder will soon travel to Leipzig for medicals and to sign the contract. This summer, many clubs, including Chelsea, showed interest in Harder, but he preferred Leipzig. Reports confirm that Harder is close to joining RB Leipzig after rejecting offers from AC Milan and Rennes. Last season, Harder scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists but had limited starts.

WHY THIS MOVE MATTERS

RB Leipzig is in transition after losing their star attacker Benjamin Sesko. They recently added Romulo Cardoso and now hope Harder will boost their attack. Harder is a versatile striker with potential shown in Portugal and Denmark. Leipzig started the Bundesliga season with a loss but won their second match, currently sitting in eleventh place. They aim to improve on last year’s seventh-place finish. Sporting, losing another forward, focuses on defending their league title.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR HARDER AND LEIPZIG?

Conrad Harder will soon fly to Germany for medical tests. If all goes smoothly, he will sign the contract and join the team. RB Leipzig faces Mainz next in the Bundesliga. They are eleventh after two games but only three points behind leaders Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt. New signings, including Harder, will be key as they try to climb the table. Sporting’s next game is against Famalicão. They are third in the league, three points behind Porto and Benfica as they need to replace Harder’s contributions.
