AC Milan Close In On Liverpool Defender Joe Gomez As Guehi Transfer Talks Progress

AC Milan are in talks with Liverpool to sign Joe Gomez. They are confident but need Liverpool to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace first. Liverpool is trying hard to sign Guehi before finalizing any move for Gomez.

A DEAL IN THE WORKS

Milan have made an official offer for Gomez, as confirmed by reports, and he is ready to move to Italy. However, Liverpool will only sell after signing a centre-back. Liverpool has offered around £35 million for Guehi, with Palace currently considering the offer according to sources. Gomez, meanwhile, will strengthen the Milan defence after Malick Thiaw’s departure.

Milan are currently mid-table in Serie A, three points below leaders like Napoli and Juventus after the two opening matches. They have struggled defensively and lost Malick Thiaw to Newcastle earlier this month. Gomez could be the answer to their defensive issues, particularly after his regular starting position for Liverpool last season. Although he did not score a goal or provide an assist, he put in commendable defensive shifts which saw him attract interest from several top European clubs, including AC Milan. As reported, Gomez is AC Milan’s top target for reinforcing their defense.
