Chelsea Not Pursuing Santiago Giménez Despite Ongoing Transfer Rumors

Chelsea were reportedly keen to make a late move for AC Milan striker Santiago Giménez. However, the club are not interested in pursuing a deal for the Mexican international ahead of the transfer deadline.

TRANSFER TALKS DENIED

Recent reports suggested that Chelsea were in talks to bring Giménez to Stamford Bridge to bolster their attack. With Chelsea forward Liam Delap set to be sidelined for weeks due to injury, the Blues were on the lookout for a backup striker. Giménez was suggested as a potential target, having scored 22 goals and provided six assists for Milan last season. However, despite the links, Chelsea are not interested in signing the striker, and talk of a deal has been dismissed. According to reports, Giménez might soon move from AC Milan to AS Roma in a potential swap deal, which further complicates Chelsea’s interest in the player as noted in a recent update.

SANTIAGO GIMÉNEZ’S IMPACT AT AC MILAN

Giménez joined AC Milan from Feyenoord in February 2025 and wasted little time in establishing himself as a key player for the Italian giants. The forward has played a crucial role in their Serie A campaign this season, as well as in the Champions League, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 35 games this season according to recent statistics.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR CHELSEA

Chelsea must look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements if they are to sign a new striker before the transfer deadline. Time is running out, but the Blues could rely on existing squad members like Joao Pedro up top following Nicolas Jackson’s exit to Bayern Munich. Enzo Maresca’s side are currently second in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Liverpool. The west Londoners’ next fixture is a home match against Brentford, who are below them in sixth place. Chelsea are currently sitting second in the Premier League, two points behind Liverpool, and have recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland due to the injury crisis affecting their attacking options as confirmed in recent reports.
