Christian Eriksen Finishes Move To Wolfsburg After Leaving Manchester United
Christian Eriksen has joined Wolfsburg for free after his contract with Manchester United ended this summer. The Danish midfielder takes on a new challenge in the Bundesliga, marking the next step in his career.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Eriksen, aged 33, became a free agent after leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2024-25 season. He started regularly in his first year at Old Trafford, but later only got a few appearances due to changes under new manager Ruben Amorim. Eriksen has been without a team for months but has now reached an agreement with Wolfsburg after completing medical tests. The Danish playmaker hasn’t played competitively since June but has been training in Sweden to prepare for his return to top-level football. Danish sporting director Peter Christiansen played a key role in the negotiations, and Eriksen will join a team with fellow Danes Joakim Mæhle and Jonas Wind.
TEAM & PLAYER FORM LAST SEASON
Last season, Manchester United finished outside the Champions League places after a tough campaign, ending the Premier League in 15th position. Eriksen helped his team by scoring the opener in their 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the season. He played 73 games for the Red Devils in the Premier League since joining them in July 2023. This season, Wolfsburg started their campaign in the Bundesliga with a win and a draw, leaving the team in 6th place so far. The team is looking to improve after finishing in 11th place last season and hopes to reach the Champions League once again.
WHAT’S NEXT?
It remains to be seen if Eriksen will make his debut this weekend in an away Bundesliga clash against Koln. If not, he will likely be in contention against Champions League candidates Dortmund a week later.
