Bayern Munich Ready to Unveil Nicolas Jackson as New Signing

Nicolas Jackson will be officially presented as Bayern Munich’s newest addition on Friday. The striker will be available to play in their match on Saturday.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern Munich have signed Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan from Chelsea. Negotiations between the clubs dragged on and included a loan with a conditional obligation to buy that is dependent upon Jackson starting 40 games this season. The overall deal cost Bayern €15 million after Jackson and his agents contributed €3 million by themselves, though reports indicate that the option to buy could rise to €80 million (according to reports). Jackson’s game time will determine whether he is a part of Bayern’s future or heads back to London come the summer.

WHY DID BAYERN SIGN JACKSON?

Jackson arrives in Munich to bolster manager Vincent Kompany’s attacking options for the rest of the 2025/26 season. He is known for his dynamic style, often dropping deep to link play and running into space, rather than acting as a traditional penalty-box striker. Last season, he scored 12 goals and provided six assists for Chelsea in the previous campaign, showcasing his versatility and work rate (per recent reports). However, with Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Oliseh all regular starters for Kompany, the 24-year-old faces a fight for game time. The Bavarians began the Bundesliga season with a strong performance, currently sitting joint-top with Frankfurt who are the only other team to win both their opening games.

WHAT NEXT FOR JACKSON?

Jackson will be available for Bayern’s DFB-Pokal Cup semi-final on Wednesday against RB Leipzig before they return to the Bundesliga to face Stuttgart in a crunch clash between the top four sides on Saturday. Bayern hope Jackson’s energy and direct style will boost their attack, especially as they face a busy fixture list next month with the Champions League group stage getting into full swing. If Jackson starts enough games, the club may trigger the clause for a permanent transfer; otherwise, he could return to Chelsea in the summer of 2026.
