Emanuel Emegha Set to Join Chelsea in 2026
Chelsea have finalized a pre-agreement to sign striker Emanuel Emegha from RC Strasbourg Alsace for the summer of 2026. The Dutch forward is set to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s attack as Chelsea continue to plan for the future.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Chelsea confirmed they have reached a deal for Emanuel Emegha to join the team next summer. Emegha, 22 years old, has been a standout at Strasbourg with 26 goals and five assists in 64 appearances since arriving from Sturm Graz. He started the current Ligue 1 season well, scoring three goals in four matches so far, and serving as captain for the French club.
Chelsea considered interest from other Premier League and European teams and decided to move quickly to secure his signing for seven years. Emegha will remain at Strasbourg for the 2025/26 campaign before linking up with Chelsea in 2026.
CHELSEA’S AND STRASBOURG’S SEASON SO FAR
Chelsea have qualified for the UEFA Champions League for next season after securing a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on the final day of the Premier League. The team finished fourth, and will play in Europe’s biggest club competition again. As per a recent update, Chelsea has started the 2025/26 Premier League season well, currently sitting in second place after three matches, which is reflective of their positive momentum this season.
Strasbourg have made a strong start to the Ligue 1 season, with Emegha playing a key role and scoring three times in four games. Strasbourg currently sits in sixth place, with six points and three behind leaders Lyon and PSG. The club aims to improve on their seventh-place finish last season and is looking to qualify for European competitions again in the current season.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA AND EMEGHA?
Chelsea will focus on other summer transfers and squad changes as they plan for the new season. Emegha will continue to lead Strasbourg’s attack and could see an even higher profile if he keeps up his current form. The Blues will monitor his progress during the season. Chelsea’s next competitive match will be in the Premier League against Brentford, who finished 13th last year. Meanwhile, Strasbourg will face Le Havre, and then Paris FC, both with 3 points but candidates to fight to not be relegated. Chelsea fans will be eager to see Emegha keep developing before his Stamford Bridge arrival in 2026.
