Borja Garcés Set to Join NK Kustosija After Atletico Madrid Exit

Borja Garcés, the Spanish forward, will play in Croatia after leaving Atletico Madrid this summer. He is set for a medical with NK Kustosija before signing his contract.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Garcés left Atletico Madrid as a free agent in July 2025. He has agreed to join NK Kustosija, a team in the Croatian league. The transfer process is almost complete. Garcés is going to Croatia for medical checks and to sign his contract. At 26, he wants more playing time after limited chances at Atletico Madrid last season.

GARCÉS’ RECENT FORM AND NK KUSTOSIJA’S SEASON

Last season, Garcés played only 484 minutes for Atletico Madrid and scored twice, adding one assist. He rarely started as Atletico finished third in La Liga, behind Real Madrid and champions Barcelona.

NK Kustosija is currently seventh in the Croatian league after ten rounds. They’re just two points from sixth place and three points above ninth. Their next game is against league-leaders Dinamo Zagreb. NK Kustosija hopes Garcés can help them move into the top six.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR GARCÉS AND HIS NEW CLUB?

Borja Garcés is expected to add experience and skill to NK Kustosija’s attack. If his move is completed in time, he could debut in the next match against Dinamo Zagreb. The club needs help scoring, as they’ve averaged only 1.1 goals per game this season. There is a chance for Garcés to help NK Kustosija climb the table and reach the playoffs.
