WHAT HAPPENED?

Amad Diallo has been sidelined since early February due to an ankle injury sustained in training. Initially expected to miss the remainder of the season, recent reports suggest he may return sooner than anticipated. Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim hinted at the possibility of Amad playing again before the end of the season, and the player himself has teased a comeback on social media.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

United’s struggles in the Premier League have left them in 13th place with 37 points from 29 matches. While a top-four finish is out of reach, the Red Devils still have a chance to qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League. They are set to face Lyon in the quarter-finals, with potential semi-final opponents being either Rangers or Athletic Bilbao.

WHAT NEXT FOR AMAD DIALLO?

If Amad’s recovery continues to progress well, he could potentially return for United’s final four Premier League games in May against Brentford, West Ham United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. Additionally, he might be available for the latter stages of the Europa League, including potential semi-final matches on May 1 and 8, and the final on May 21 in Bilbao. Before that, United has to go through Lyon, with the 1st leg of the quarter-finals taking place on the 10th of April in France.
