WHAT HAPPENED?

RB Leipzig have reportedly completed the signing of Ezechiel Banzuzi, securing the 20-year-old Dutch midfielder’s move from Belgian side Oud-Heverlee Leuven for a transfer fee of approximately €16 million. Although the transfer is widely reported as imminent, official confirmation from RB Leipzig is yet to be made. Banzuzi has been linked with Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart in the past, but he ultimately appears set to join Leipzig.

Banzuzi has impressed with Oud-Heverlee Leuven, registering 3 goals and 6 assists in 31 matches during the 2024-25 season as a central midfielder. His performances have garnered significant attention, and while he has also represented the Netherlands’ U21 national team. His versatility as an attacking midfielder capable of playing on the wings makes him a valuable addition to Leipzig’s squad.

Banzuzi is expected to compete for a starting position at RB Leipzig once the move is finalized.
