WHAT HAPPENED?

Lamine Yamal started against Borussia Dortmund but was substituted off in the final stages while holding his hamstring. Flick revealed after the game that it was the attacker’s own decision to come off due to discomfort.

With some fans fearing that Yamal’s injury was serious, Flick provided them with some good news, assuring them that the attacker’s problem was merely fatigue as he requested to be substituted to give Ansu Fati some minutes during Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Yamal returned to training with his team-mates, and all speculation over his fitness was put to rest on Wednesday when Flick confirmed that he was available for selection against Leganes. It remains to be seen if the coach opts to play the young Spanish international or rest him with key fixtures against Dortmund for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA’S LAMINE YAMAL?

If Yamal is unable to play on Saturday, the 17-year-old will focus on being fully prepared for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Dortmund in midweek, where Barcelona currently hold a 4-0 aggregate lead and are the clear favourites to advance to the next stage of the Champions League, where they will play either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan, with the Italians leading by 2-1 as they play the second leg in San Siro.
