Real Madrid’s striker Kylian Mbappé will face a one-match ban after receiving a red card during a match against Alavés. However, he will be available for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. This is a significant boost for Madrid ahead of their important fixtures ahead of their match against Barcelona.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Mbappé got a red card in the 38th minute of Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Alavés for a harsh challenge on midfielder Antonio Blanco. The referee initially gave a yellow card but changed it to a red after a VAR review. Despite speculations of a longer suspension, the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee imposed only a one-game ban. As a result, Mbappé will miss the upcoming La Liga match against Athletic Club. The French striker has apologized for his challenge, which marks his first red card since joining Madrid last summer.

REAL MADRID’S SEASON SO FAR

Real Madrid is currently four points behind the La Liga leaders Barcelona after their narrow victory over Alavés. Kylian Mbappé has been instrumental this season, netting 22 goals and providing 3 assists in 29 league games. His absence against Athletic Club will be noticeable, especially since Athletic are also fighting for Champions League qualification. Mbappé will miss their match against Athletic but will be available to play against Getafe and Barcelona later this month.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR MBAPPÉ AND REAL MADRID?

Mbappé will miss the La Liga match against Athletic Club, but will be available for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, as well as the much-awaited Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. The upcoming matches are crucial for Madrid, who cannot afford any slip-ups as they are four points behind Barça with only a few games remaining. These fixtures will be pivotal in determining whether Madrid can still compete for the league title and claim cup glory, making Mbappé’s participation in these key matches essential for their season’s outcome.
