Carlo Ancelotti has yet again avoided talking about his future as rumors link him to the Brazil national team. He emphasized that his main focus is on Real Madrid’s pursuit of two major trophies this season.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 65-year-old Real Madrid manager addressed questions on his future in a press conference on Saturday evening, reiterating that they will make a decision only at the end of the term. “We will evaluate the future at the end of the season, not now,” he said.
He also responded rather pointedly when asked about the rumors of him replacing current Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz, replying that his focus remains “on the two titles remaining” for Real Madrid this campaign.
Ancelotti has a contract with Los Blancos until June 2026, but speculation continues to gather steam, especially after Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League and Brazil remain on the lookout for a world-class coach to win the 2026 World Cup.
HOW HAS REAL MADRID’S SEASON BEEN SO FAR?
Real Madrid are currently second in LaLiga and are four points behind leaders Barcelona. Xabi Alonso’s team are set to face tough fixtures in the coming days and Ancelotti’s job is set for further scrutiny when he takes on his former team in the Copa del Rey final on April 26. Madrid have been eliminated from the Champions League and are gearing up for the Club World Cup in June where they will face Champions League winners Manchester City.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CARLO ANCELOTTI?
While the Italian manager has insisted that decisions about his future will wait until the end of the season, changes might be ahead for Real Madrid.
Reports have already claimed a new manager is being considered, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso being linked to the job. However, it remains to be seen how Ancelotti will react to those links and whether the club’s performance in the coming weeks may, in fact, change the situation for the better.
